At the heart of the Arches Apartment lies a remarkable feat of engineering from architect Miguel Juliano, conceived over 50 years ago. The innovative use of arched concrete slabs not only eliminates the need for interior pillars but also facilitates rapid construction, reminiscent of Roman aqueducts. These graceful arches define the space, creating a sense of openness and fluidity throughout the building.
Embracing Modern Living
In the renovation process, the design team aimed to preserve the integrity of the original architecture while accommodating the needs of a modern family. Walls were removed to merge spaces, creating a cohesive social area conducive to family gatherings and entertainment. The application of polymeric cement over existing floorings streamlined construction while maintaining a consistent aesthetic.
